Archived Writings

I started to go through some of the old stuff I had written years ago and realized something; much of it needs a lot of work. The only writings I have that seem to be in decent shape, aka "not going to touch them", are some poems that I wrote for a creative writing class and some I just happened to write out on some late nights. Since I'm not writing much as far as a decent post goes I thought I'd post some of the poems.

Here ya go!

Dreams Are Just That

The moon shines over my head like a searchlight looking
For an escaped convict.
Alone in my yard, I wait to be caught
Again.

The cold, night air wraps around me,
Trying to comfort and take the place of my girl.
The cold is empty.

In my dark room I lay on my bed
Attempting sleep.
With the covers pulled around my body,
Hugging me, I find the comfort I miss.
I dream and see the moon, and the air is warm,
Caressing me.

Never Enough

I said I was sorry,
That wasn't enough for you.

I told you it was a mistake,
That wasn't enough for you.

I told you it meant nothing,
That wasn't enough for you.

I told you over and over,
It just wasn't enough for you.

If I told you that I regret
That night ever since,
Would that be enough for you?

If I told you that it gives me pains
Every time I think of how I hurt you,
Would that be enough for you?

If I told you that I'd go back
And change what I did in a heartbeat,
Would that be enough for you?

If I told you that I loved you,
Would that be enough for you?

What can I do
To get things back
To the way they were?

Wishing Well

With closed eyes and the flip of a thumb,
A quarter is sent spinning through space.
The light of the sun reflects off of Washington's face
As the coin tumbles back down to earth.

Plop.

Into the cold water of the fountain the coin sinks.
It comes to rest at the bottom,
Joining all the other unspoken hopes and dreams
Of so many other dreamers.

If I hear back about people wanting more, I'll post more. If not, well, I might just post more anyway to keep the posts going. I would like to hear thoughts though. I will start writing poems, stories, etc., again once I get some things sorted out.
